The San Francisco Board of Supervisors gave final approval to a plan that would award official city recognition to nail salons that drop the use of toxic nail-care products. This ordinance establishes a voluntary recognition program for salon owners that supports their efforts to stop using nail polish including base and top coats, containing the Toxic Trio (DBP, formaldehyde, and toluene). A goal of the ordinance is to reduce negative reproductive and other health impacts of long-term exposure to toxic chemicals for nail salon workers. Watch video .
