with the Green Club, Dominican University

Saturday May 1, 2010

1 – 5:30 pm

REevent:

The REevent is a great opportunity to educate, raise awareness, and build momentum around the ever-growing Turning Green movement. It will demonstrate the ease, accessibility, and appeal of an all-encompassing eco lifestyle. We hope to inspire our audience of high school and college students, as well as adult collaborators and community members, to opt for choices that protect personal health and that of the environment. Through this event and related actions and initiatives, we hope to establish additional Turning Green chapters at middle schools, high schools, and colleges nationwide.

We are challenging peers, parents, and community members to consider how they can REnew, REcreate, REduce, Regenerate and REthink the choices that they make daily in each aspect of their lives. This event will help start the process.

RESTYLED WORKSHOP (1:00-3:00)

We will start the day with a Restyled Workshop pairing students with professional seamstresses and two professional designers to mentor their creative spirits. In the process of learning about eco fashion, the attendees will create RE looks that will be a part of the runway show later in the afternoon. RElooks will be judged and awarded in our “Green Project Runway”.

Eco Lifestyle Fair (3:00-4:30pm)

We will feature eco vendors ranging from cosmetics to personal care as well as some lifestyle options to showcase what eco choices are available to ensure the health and well being of our planet.

REevent FASHION SHOW  (4:30 – 5:30pm)

The REevent will be a runway show featuring Restyled clothing as well as clothing from eco designers.

Contest:re-event_flier.jpg Each student will be partnered witha professional designer as a mentor. Winners will be featured on the runway.
