The program is sponsored by the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health in collaboration with the San Francisco Unified School District and featuring keynote address by Michelle Obama.
The goal of the YWHLS is to provide resources and information on a wide range of health topics so that young women are empowered with the knowledge and resources to make wise decisions about their health, well-being and future endeavors. DON’T FEED THE BAG MONSTER: Every year Californians are estimated to use 19 billion plastic bags – many of which will end up in our rivers and oceans.  A ban on plastic bags is a key part of our movement to reduce marine pollution.  AB 1998, passed by the Assembly and now moving to the floor of the Senate, would ban single-use plastic bags in California for good!  As members of the Clean Seas Coalition, we are invited to join in a fun demonstration organized by Chico Bags to raise consciousness and build support for this bill’s passage.

Join Teens Turning Green for a Hike-a-thon to raise funds to green our schools and develop the Eco Janitorial Closet in order to ensure a healthier school environment.  Participants will gather for a light breakfast and then hike for 5 miles on Ring Mountain.  Educators will speak at each mile marker about toxic chemicals found in everyday products and the alternative greener options.  Prizes will be awarded based on amounts raised.  Following the hike will be a Eco Lifestyle Expo showcasing products and services that promote thoughtful living.

Napa County is starting to focus much attention on this issue and empowering and supporting the next generation to take the lead in their schools. TTG Campaign members will work with students to develop projects that they can build at their schools and in their communities.   TTG will host an information table and as well provide sampling opportunities of eco products for attendees.

    One Young World Global Youth Conference , London, England
    February 07-11, 2010 1,500 young pioneers, the decision makers of the future, from all 192 countries on earth will gather together in London for The One Young World Youth Summit. Under he guidance of Counsellors, they will hold plenary sessions to discuss the issues that affect our world; Global Health, Political Leadership, Interfaith Dialogue, Global Business, The Media and The Environment. They will generate resolutions for a better future steering the world in the right direction and joining a group of alumni that is truly global. With a lens turning to the school environment, teens investigated and then educated their audience of hundreds about non toxic alternatives in all aspects of school life.
